Most of lack of regulation is because of a lot of bad PR that started back in 1965. It convinced the citizens. So when congress had a poll of the citizens wanted guess what. That poll showed the citizens wanted the gov to DE-REGULAT what ever industry and that allow the crooks to rip off the citizens. Do you want hear what the PR propaganda was????
It was (THE GOVERNMENT HAS NO BUSSINESS IN CONTORLING BUSSINESS.) Ever time I hear that or some thing like that 4 to 6 years latter that industry melts down and the citizens get hurt and gov bails them out.
I believe most of you did it to your selves. You paid for every one else lawyer but you did not get your own because every time you mention getting one they told you we had one that prepared the contracts and you don’t need one it was done right. Any mention of HOA was done as the real state agent was walking away and mumbled.
Or said it not very tolerant HOA. Not only not getting a lawyer you did not read the contract. You expect the gov to protect you. And yet you want the gov out of your every day lives.
You hear some one say gov regulation is bad and repeat it. So hear you are.

The lawyer that my HOA uses is also a director on the HOA board. How about that for conflict of interest? He made $90,000 in fees last year, paid by the HOA. Not bad money for part-time work for an HOA.
So, it definately pays to be a HOA director here in the Stoneybrook West subdivision in Winter Garden, Florida.
The problem you have with $35,000 in arrears is incompetent HOA board, and the failure to take steps to balance the budget. Yes, my friend, all homeonwers must take up te slack, just as cities raise taxes to cover losses.
The argument thrown at every legislature is to “foreclose on the deadbeats”. Well, go ahead and foreclose yourself out of business.
And the problem is with the Lawyers for these Assc. who encourage lawsuits that they make money on. Lawyers are making too much money and the homeowners are paying assessments to pay these un-ethical lawyers!
These foreclosers are not just by HOA associations. Generally the people are not paying any bills and the last bill they want to pay is a HOA fee. I live in a small 210 unite HOA.we have 35,000 in arears. Stop trying to take away the rights of the HOA’s to get the monies to run their non profet, non paying organization. I agree there is a problem with some boards.
